Co-Director of Organizing and Communications
Compensation: $48,000/yr (Starting at $45,000)

Summary:
This is more than a job, it is a long term vocation and commitment to the cause of Housing Justice in Miami! Candidates will be highly scrutinized for their compatibility with SMASH’s organizational culture and their potential to not just work, but co-create the future of the organization. This position is in charge of direct community outreach and digital organizing for the Miami Housing Justice Agenda (https://smash.miami/housing-justice-agenda/), as well as general media communications for SMASH. Employee work plans are co-designed every year at the annual strategic planning meeting, and outline clear deliverables that co-directors must meet by the end of the year. Progress reports are submitted to the board on a monthly basis, and staff meets as needed to coordinate campaigns. Strategy, tactics, work schedule and style of work are all up to the co-director themselves, as long as deliverables are met by the end of the year. Tactics may include but are not limited to the recruitment of volunteers, conducting community meetings, working with coalitions and partner organizations, the training and development of community leaders, coordination of events, press conferences and interviews, and the creation of promotional materials and copy for social media. After an initial orientation and training period, technical support and professional development opportunities become available, but are never required.
